Nokia Press Release - Nokia's new Communicator

Today Nokia introduced the latest instalment of one of the most famous form factors in mobile phones, the Nokia E90 Communicator.

The new Communicator supports the most popular email and business voice solutions, as well as being High Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA) enabled and boasting integrated Global Position System (GPS) functionality.

"We're making it easy for business professionals to get mobilised, says Richard Vester, head of Nokia Enterprise Solutions in South and East Africa.

"Feedback from our customers shows that we are changing the way business is being done and the new devices are responding to the growing requirements of new generation business users. The Nokia E90 is the flagship of the Eseries range and will certainly further establish the credentials of the Nokia Eseries."

The new Communicator sets the standard for an uncompromised mobile office experience. The latest technologies at the core of the device bring business necessities and personal amenities to the hands of people, independent of time and place.

Fast and inexpensive connections over WLAN and HSDPA-enhanced 3G accelerate the mobile use of data and transmission rich applications. The 16 million colour screen is capable of displaying the full width of a web page at once and views all relevant office documents clearly.

The E90 is now based on the S60 software platform, standard across all current Nokia Nseries and Eseries devices. This makes a wealth of additional mobile applications available for its users. It also has an integrated GPS and Nokia Maps application to provide help in finding routes and locating services.

For increased personal convenience, the Communicator is equipped with an FM radio, a music player, a video player and two cameras -- a 3.2Mpix auto focus camera with flash and a second camera for videoconferencing.

Combining the E90 with the Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite platform significantly enhances the potential for businesses to achieve new levels of productivity and competitive advantage. These Nokia solutions also provide operators and carriers opportunities to grow their businesses with competitive new solutions for their business customers, which comprise one-third of operators' revenues today.

By offering Nokia Eseries devices that can handle current and future services such as hosted email, security, device management and other productivity applications, operators and carriers can gain competitive advantage and increased customer loyalty.

The Nokia E90 joins the currently available Eseries devices, Nokia E50, E61, E61i, E65 and E70.

Nokia 6500 Classic and Slide

Nokia 6500 classic.....

Nokia today announced two new handsets, the Nokia 6500 classic and Nokia 6500 slide. Along with third generation WCDMA technology and contemporary designs, these new devices are aimed at driving the benefits of third generation technology to the mid-range market.

"With the Nokia 6500 classic and Nokia 6500 slide, Nokia is combining these areas of expertise to deliver a compelling blend of design and technology at a mid-range price point," said Peter Ropke, Senior Vice President, Broad Appeal Business Unit, Nokia.

"While features like the aluminum "loop" structure of the Nokia 6500 classic or the Carl Zeiss optics found in the Nokia 6500 slide separate these devices from the pack, it is the balance of features and style that will make them irresistible to customers", said Ropke.

Crafted from 360 degrees of anodized aluminum, the Nokia 6500 classic is 9.5mm thin. According to Nokia, each Nokia 6500 classic is individually polished, ensuring that no two phones are exactly alike, while diamond polishing used on the beveled display aperture and cold stamped logo demonstrate the highest levels of craftsmanship.

Featuring dual band 3G technology and quad-band GSM for worldwide roaming, the Nokia 6500 classic also features a full 1 GB of internal memory. It is equipped with the Series 40 interface, includes a 2 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and an integrated music player. Furthermore, a unified micro-USB connector simplifies charging, audio and data connectivity by consolidating them into a single compact port. This allows for the Nokia 6500 classic to be easily used as a high-capacity flash drive or to be charged directly from a laptop computer - all with one cable.

The Nokia 6500 classic is expected to be available during the 3rd quarter of 2007.
The Nokia 6500 features a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and the addition of autofocus, a dual LED flash and 8x digital zoom. It also uses 3G technology. The TV-out jack will allow users to be instantly viewed on any television with standard RCA inputs. The TV-out feature can also be used for video calling.

It's equipped with a hard coating that helps to prevent scuffs, scratches, and even fingerprints.

The Nokia 6500 slide is expected to be available during the 3rd quarter of 2007.
